Afro Perm

Hello, this is Hippie Buddha. Today’s post is about the Afro perm.
The Disco Afro curly hairstyle, among Afro perm hairstyles, was hugely popular in the American disco scene in the 1970s.
This style is characterized by puffing up the hair to create a large shape. The Disco Afro hairstyle can create a unique and bold image.

How to get Afro curly hair

The types of Afro perm include Spinning Afro perm, 90-degree Afro perm, and Dread perm.
Today, we will create curls using the Spinning Afro perm. The distinctive feature of the Spinning Afro perm is the emergence of coil shapes.
Afterward, when you comb through the coils, you can see the 4C texture of super curly hair.

Spinning Afro Perm Tutorial

  1. Sectioning:
    ■ When sectioning, divide the sections according to a certain amount of hair. You can evenly divide it into rectangular shapes from the bottom of the back of your head.
  2. Applying SHIT 1:
    ■ Once the section for winding is determined, evenly apply SHIT1 from the Afro perm kit up to just before the scalp.
You can spread it more evenly by combing it with a tail comb while applying.
  3. Winding:
    ■ After applying, grab the hair in the section and twist it.
Place about 2/3 of the perm paper at the end of the hair and twist it to the perm paper.
Wrap the twisted hair around the wire rod.
Bend the top and bottom parts of the wire rod to secure it.
For more detailed information, please refer to the secret tutorial included in the Afro perm kit!!
  4. Heat treatment:
    ■ After winding, use a heat treatment machine to increase the softening speed.
If you do not have a heat treatment machine, you can heat treat using a hairdryer.
  5. Applying SHIT 2:
    ■ The SHIT 2 included in Buddha Black is a product that helps neutralization. Apply SHIT 2 all over the winding part and wait for 10 minutes.
  6. Removing the Rods:
    ■ After the neutralization process, you can unwind the rods that were wound. If the coils come out evenly at regular intervals when you unwind, it means that the Spinning Afro perm has been successful.

Disco Afro curly Hairstyle

To create a Disco Afro perm, comb out the coils of the Spinning Afro perm while they are wet.

Afterward, completely dry your hair with a hairdryer and then use a sponge to beat and make the entire hair round.

If there are parts sticking out due to different hair lengths, cut them with a trimmer, and if you want to maintain it for a long time, fix it with a spray.
